Problem:

Fifty three year old built system had several cooling failures.

The existing recip compressor had become unreliable.

The refrigerant circuit containing 290 lbs of R-22 was contaminated
with metal particles, leaving city buildings without cooling.

Solution:

All of
the refrigerant and most of the oil were removed.
-
The
common refrigerant system was split creating a separate system for
each of the two air handlers.
-
40 tons
of rental condensers were brought in as shown in photograph.
-
The
condensers were modified in order to adapt to the situation and
provide system clean up.
-
The work was completed over a single weekend restoring the cities
cooling capacity.
